Yesterday we had a seminar on a spartina grass flat on how to locate, pursue, address, and catch redfish when the flood tides come. Capt. Ray and I watched the weather forecasts very intently and saw that the higher winds and cooler temps weren't going to be here until the seminar was completed.......well, the weather guessers were wrong again. When we were mother shipped out and dropped off it looked like we'd have a great morning and then 30 minutes later the wind and coolness came in like a lion. Oh well, that's how it goes sometimes. The participants did learn a great deal on the aspects of locating and catching fish in the grass. At one point all of us were standing in the yaks and paddling/ poling around. I had fun regardless! ;D Here are a few pics: Troutman Waiting on the flat to flood Poling around We at least got a line wet

Sorry the weather bit you guys, but it looks like you had a great time. What an opportunity to learn a new way to fish, especially if you have never fished the grass flats. I personally have not had that opportunity and would really enjoy getting to experience it. Unfortunately, I can only wish for such things, as there are no spartina flats in north GA!!! I think that you are providing a terrific service to the kayak fishing community by providing the opportunity to participate in the seminars. I started kayak fishing when kayak fishing wasn't cool and call myself a seasoned kayak angler, but I sure could use the advanced training that you are providing in these seminars to improve my angling skills on the coast. I thought about it after the Irish Waterdogs Tournament. When I fish the Jax Classic and now the Irish Waterdogs, I always fish the same way because it is the only way that I know how to fish the backwaters. What a difference it would make if I took the time to learn different approaches to this type of angling. For instance, fishing topwater, I know how to fish topwater in the waters that I fish for spotted bass and stripers, but seldom practice it when fishing the coast. I listened to Troutman talking about picking up a slam on topwater and realized how little I really know about how to fish these waters! You guys are providing a fantastic service. I sure hope that others continue to take advantage of the opportunity before them. Keep up the good work!!! Redbeard
