I just received a Yak Attack Carbon Visi Pro today and I have to say it is AWESOME!! Every now and then you hear of a kayak fisherman injured or lost his life when a boater plows right over them. There are many reasons to why this happens: low light conditions, poor visibility, etc. I've paddled a few years now without a pole light, I usually use a headlamp. This year I've changed to a white light that is visible 360 degrees, hence the Visi Pole. Yak Attack talked to me about the simplicity and convienance of the Carbon Visi Pro and believed that I'd like it much better than the standard lighted pole, they were right! The Carbon Visi Pro comes in it's own pouch (which is it's flag), breaks down just like a tent pole, has a bright led lamp and solas reflective tape, and the bottom is padded to fit into a standard rocket launcher rod holder and the pad floats the rig. The pole also comes with your choice of connections to fit into a Scotty base or Ram base. I'll have it Saturday to show, ask me then how you can get one or pm me.

There are tons of great gizmos like this for conv tackle kayak fishermen...most of which is totally impractical for kayak fly anglers. If I were a conv tackle dude, I'd get one of these in a heartbeat! The way it is, I use a headlamp with a red/green/white light w/strobe option (waterproof) and carry a white strobe on my lanyard. A wise man once told me: if you REALLY need something, you need TWO.
