Trey, Troutman, and I meet last Saturday after the intermediate seminar to work out a plan for the First Quarterly Meeting for Coastal Georgia Kayak Fishing. After talking with several within the forum and the posting under the thread "Meet and Greet" the conclusion that meets with most was the meeting to be held on April 09, 2011. This will be a week from this coming Saturday. We would like to have those that will be able, to meet on Saturday morning and fish. After fishing we will all gather at the Flying Fish on Highway 80 at the intersection of Johnny Mercer and Hwy 80 around 1 o'clock where we will meet with our fellow members and share stories and tell lies about ourselves and others. You may order from the menu and or the bar. Each will be reasonable for their own check. I have talked with Wanda and the Flying Fish will be glad to cook your catch (provided you clean and cut your own) for a charge of $6.95. With this you will get the sides of French fries and grits. We would like to get a head count to be sure we can handle all that would like to come. So please post here if you will be able to attend. Further information will follow on this posting for the time and place for the fishing depending on the tides, and weather. ;D ;D ;D

The weather looks pretty good for Sat., hopefully the winds will cooperate. I will choose a site later in the week when I get a wind forecast for that morning. Keep in mind that Tybee is "pay to park". There are parking kiosk's at parking areas. Some of us have parking stickers and would gladly allow yak pooling ( ya know, like car pooling). I'll have room in my truck, shoot me a pm if you want. Keep in mind, I do plan on actually fishing at dawn.

If we go to Tybee and the wind isn't all wrong, I'm going up to the Lazaretto Creek put-in and fishing the North Tybee bank of the Savannah River and Lazaretto Creek. Anyone who wants to fish artificials and go with me is welcome. I've looked at the nav charts and aerials of that area as long as I can stand it without getting wet if I'm going to be in the area. And I hate fishing in crowds.

We should ALL fish with Ken! ;D That's fine by me! LMAO My crowd comment was about the math: Saturday recreational boaters + jet skiers + kayakers + unaffiliated kayak anglers + 15 of us down in Tybee Creek = water park. And as long as we're doing this group fishing thing, we might as well toss in some low-key friendly comp. How about something like this: Worst Sunburn - UV Coolmax Buff (donated by me) Dumbest Looking Hat - CGKF hat? Most Creative Use of Duct Tape - 1 free bev @ restaurant (we all chip in) Most Decals On Boat (incl. paddles, etc.) - 1 free bev @ restaurant (we all chip in) Voting will be by proclamation of all participants at the restaurant. Hat must be worn for duration of fishing. Duct tape usage must be evident during fishing. Sunburn must be evident at restaurant. Ties will be broken by the waitress. Now that's my kind of fishing tournament! Just a suggestion...

It is great to see people excited about this week end. I know we will have fun just being on the water. Yet the better park is being able to meet our members on a face to face and have name put with the screen names. For those that have not said that they are coming sound off and come meet your fellow members. It is going to be a blast. That is this Saturday with fishing in the morning and the Flying Fish at 1 o'clock. Looking forward to seeing all there.

KEn if you would bring one of those 8th setups please I will bring what I'm willing to sell, but that has changed. I'm down to only 1 Axiom 8wt and 1 BVK 8wt. So I'm keeping both of those. I am also on the field staff of Elkhorn Fly Rods & Reels. I have an excellent kayak fishing rod, an 8wt Elkhorn Traveler (4pc), and T3 reel + extra spool w/nice Elkhorn tube. This rod has been used once and the reel has seen about a year of sporadic use. You'll like this combo! I also have an 8wt 3pc Elkhorn Big Game Series rod and a TFO 7wt 4pc TiCrX for sale. All 3 rods are excellent saltwater in-shore fly rods. These 2 are faster action rods than the Traveler, which is excellent for Sea Trout and more than enough for Redfish. I over-line ALL of my 7wt rods for saltwater fishing with 8wt fly lines. This is the way I usually am set up: 7wt TFO BVKs or Axioms w/8wt lines on them. You can actually feel the TiCrX load and unload easier than you can the other TFO rods. So a lot of less advanced casters prefer it and cast better with it. But it is the fastest action rod TFO makes. It and the Elkhorn Big Game Series are similar in action (very stiff). That Elkhorn Traveler is MUCH more pleasant to cast from a kayak. I will bring them all, plus the reel. All of the rods MSRP between $220-350 or so. And the reel is in the same price range. I'll sell any of these rods for $90 cash and the reel w/extra spool for $120 cash. The T-3 is a full-blown "big game" reel. It color-matches the Traveler...maroon and gray. These prices are only good this coming Saturday, cash only. If someone wants to put a deposit on something or have me ship something to them...whatever...we'll have to negotiate a different price.
