Powerboat Fishing Buddy

I mentioned this in another thread, but thought it might be more appropriate in a stand-alone post under the "wanted" section. It's a little unconventional for a trade post, as it is not for an item.

Wanted: Someone who has a flats boat or shallow water bay boat rigged for in-shore fishing who either fly fishes or wants to learn to fly fish. Ideally, you will be able to fish on weekdays since I can fish anytime and prefer to fish when it isn't so crowded out there. But I can and will fish on weekends.

Will Trade: In exchange, I will pay for gas for the boat every time we go out, provide free fly casting and/or fly tying lessons to you and your immediate family members, and provide you with custom, hand-tied flies for $1 each (cost of materials).

Ken, if I was off during the week you'd have a deal. Unfortunately, I'm only off on weekends.
However when I get the boat going and can get out I will let you know. Both Dylan (Backlash) and myself have flyrods (TFO's), but have not really been able to use them very much yet. Everytime we put them in the boat it seems that is the time the wind will blow 15-20 when it was suposed to be 5 or less.

Not a problem...with weekends or the wind. I can teach you both to cast without effort in a 15-20 mph wind, especially from a powerboat. And I just PREFER to fish on weekdays for obvious reasons. But I can fish on weekends. From what I hear, it's not like the GA coast is terribly crowded anyway.

FYI, while I love sight-casting to Redfish and stuff of that nature, I also really enjoy fishing for trout, macks, jacks, tuna, tarpon, bluefish, etc. If it is legal, has fins, and eats, I will catch it on a fly! I only have a couple of exceptions: I don't target sharks or barracuda. I prefer not to torque them off. It's bad karma. The point is that I can have a stellar day chasing jacks or blues around a bay in the boat and laying into them every time they start busting bait. I can go sit on a deep flat over some holes and catch a bunch of trout with the best of them. It's relaxing and fun...very low pressure sort of saltwater fly fishing. So you just name the game, time, and place and I'll buy the gas. And I'm happy to help you and Dylan any way I can with the fly fishing stuff. Casting in wind is all about position, line speed, and something called casting plane. Y'all will pick it up in no time.
