How does everyone store their yaks while that aren't using them? I found out that you can get flat spots on the bottom of the kayak if left flat on the ground (thanks Troutman). I am trying to do a cheap build, and the supplies that I already have consist of 9 - 5' 2x4's, some net material, and some random wood slats from a couple of shelves that I don't need. I need ideas.

Why thank you everyone for the rack envy! I have a pvc stand that I use for rigging and I store my kayaks on a wall mounted 3 tiered stand that I constructed out of 2x4's. I thought that I may have flattening issues, but haven't. Here's a pic of some of it. Kayak storage is a real important issue for the care and longevity of your kayak.

That is a nice rack, I finished mine and pretty much followed the design from Hook1. Made a few modifications to fit my kayak. It works great and hasn't fallan apart yet.

Hey - I don't know if you're still interested but I thought I'd offer to show what I came up with. 2 scraps of 2x4 nailed into studs on the ceiling with eye bolts screwed in. Ratchet straps to raise and lower the yak and I barely touch it to get it on and off my truck bed. It takes a little finesse to keep one side from dropping too far, kind of like a skyscraper window washing crew. It works for me anyway. Attachments:
