I've been noticing some rust along the welds of my yak rack on the bottom of the towers. I decided to fix it today to stop the rusting. Once the rack was removed from the truck I noticed some liquid crud that came out of the towers. Somehow water is getting in the tubes. I took care of the rusty spots with a wire wheel and brush and then applied a coat of rustoleum. I will put a bead of silicone on the top of the towers when I replaced the rack and bars on the truck.
Kayak racks are too expensive not to do maintenance on them!
