Ken, I wish I could tell you that I have something. Limiting yourself to 15 min. to the gate is the issue. Nothing in Savannah would be close enough. Hinesville sounds like where you're gonna have to hunt for a place. Lots of military families there, oh yeah, and lots of scumbag thugs/ low lifes! There are some decent areas there, I just don't know what is available. The further east you venture and getting around I-95 the more sparse it gets (as far as population). The water also gets more brackish when you get around I-95 and of course more salty as you head east. There are tons of nice ponds on Ft. Stewart! I'll put the word out with folks I know in Hinesville to see what they know of as far as housing.

Sure is. It's always the biggest "unknown" and hurdle in a military move. You never know where you're gonna live until after you're in town. Then it's a mad dash to find a place to live. You don't even have a forwarding address when you leave the old digs. Society isn't really tooled to deal with folks with no address either.
The new place is nice and very close to the main gate. It's an easy 5-10 minute drive from a very nice, established neighborhood. I've got a shed and a 2-car garage. We've got a big bonus room w/a linoleum floor for art/crafts. Good size living room w/fireplace. Huge master suite on one end of house. Big privacy fenced yard for the Weimaraner. Wood floors throughout, which we really like. We have a lot of Persian rugs. Separate dining room and big eat-in kitchen. And 2 extra bedrooms and 1 bath on the other end of the house that we have no use for ourselves. So they have extra income potential. If it was $200/mo cheaper it would be perfect. LOL
