Well guys and gals, as you know there are quite a few lulls in the action for fishing during the winter months. This is a great opportunity to make some modifications to your kayak or conduct that much needed maintenance on your gear. Kayak rigging is an essential part to your kayak fishing experience. Having things where you want them and being comfortable makes that fishing experience all the better. I'm not big on over rigging a kayak, but I do know what I want on my kayak and where I want it. I am also always trying to figure out something new to enhance my time on the water. Many of the items needed can be purchased locally or on-line. Local places are Coffee Bluff Marina, West Marine, Ace hardware, etc. When conducting maintenance on your gear I would caution you on your reel maintenance. Not remembering where that screw or washer goes can be a nightmare. Do your homework or get a qualified technician to do the work. River Supply in Thunderbolt does a great job at cleaning reels. Remember, moving parts do not like saltwater/ corrosion. We (CGKF) have extensive knowledge of rigging kayaks. If you don't want to do it and/ or need some help, let us know. Good luck and well wishes for a great 2011 on the water!

How about right after the Basic kayak fishing seminar on Feb 19th? I have a kayak that needs an improved anchor trolley. Anyone else have some rigging needed that wants to have it done then?

i 'm game. when and were? so just let me know when and were . Your question was in the third post of this thread. Directly after the basic kayak fishing seminar Feb. 19th. I have a Ride 135 that I am going to re-do the anchor trolley on and Troutman has a couple mods that he wants to do as well to his yak.

I don't know my schedule for the 19th...but if I can I want to be there. I need to put a anchor trolley on my yak. Please keep me updated on any changes. I havent bought my anchor yet, wanted to find out if these 3.5lbs anchor was enough...too much?

Jeff the 3.5lb anchor can be enuff, however I purchased a 7lb folding anchor from walmart that looks identical to the 3.5 and works good for our strong currents and tides. On the other hand, most of the costal guys here dont use their anchor as much we use the standard SOP (Stake Out Pole) and use it with the trolley accordingly. If you have any questions or need any advice on rigging that fishing machine.....shoot me a Pm or Face Book me and well hook up. Hope to see ya at the seminar!

I definitely have some questions about how to rig my trolley...because I want to rig it without rivits of screws. I saw some pictures that 3spot posted in an earlier post and got some ideas but I have plenty of room for ideas. Thanks Nubby, I appreciate that man!

The key to rigging is to think about how you want to rig thoroughly, especially if you're going to do any drilling.

Your not kidding, that’s why I want to try and avoid drilling…to permanent. I saw a pic of an anchor trolley that was similar to what you did 3spots. I am curious to see how you like how you rigged the WS T-140. Where did you get the pulleys?

he Prbly got them from West Marine. Yes, West Marine. I have to get a couple more this weekend. Ask for Mr. Hannah and tell him you are from Coastal Georgia Kayak Fishing. No discount, but he's a nice guy who is interested in what we're doing.
