Just about every year in October, Georgia Kayak Fishing members go down and spend Columbus Day weekend on Jekyll Island fishing for our inshore species and bull reds off the beach. Last year a few of us met up with them and fished for bulls and we caught a bunch of them. This year we are going to make it interesting: fishing for bulls while using Barbie/ kid rod & reels. The only thing you can change out is the line you use on the reel.
The event is October 8th and we will launch together at the beach where the Post Office is. There's restrooms and handicap accessible ramp there. We launch at first light and can fish until mid afternoon. I'd like everyone to be off the water by 4pm. If you catch a bull with the Barbie rod, you'll measure it on a measuring device we can lend you at the launch and take a picture of it for entry. We will have a few prizes to give out.
Come on out and have some fun. There is no entry fee. Just for fun!
