I am thinking of finally adding a fish finder to my yak. I have been looking at some of the lowrance models, and can't decide if I want to go with the elite 3x or go for more and get put to the elite 4. I am not set on a brand, but am looking for some guidance so I don't have any regrets. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

If you're just going to use it for depth, the 3x is fine. If you want something to help you out finding bottom structure, fish, and yourself when you venture to new areas then get the 4.

Thanks for the advice. Any thoughts between the 4 and the 4x? I can always use my phone for navigation in the event I actually need it.

I have the 4, but really don't need it. It's just a convenience when I fish unfamiliar mangroves in Florida or new creeks along the Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina coasts.
