I am glad we have added this site to the forum. I think it has shown some great interest. I am looking forward to reading the information. I may even learn how to fly fish.

Oooooohh!
Sorry, haven't been around much since my wife got back from Iraq. Funny how that works, huh? LOL
This is cool. I've got a few things I can just cut-n-paste over to here for convenience's sake to kick things off.

well, i would be glad to share with what i have learned over the past few years. i am way far from being called a expert on fly fishing and fly tying. as i am self taught on both of them. the best advise, i can offer is, get a good vise. the kits you see at bass pros and other places are good. but they only give a certain amount of tying materials. save your money and get a good vise. and use the money on tying supplies. as for the tying vise. their are a bunch of them out there. they have fixed and rotary vises. i like to use the dan vise and its a rotary vise. their are also a bunch of book's, dvd's, and you tube vids, and fly tying web sites. that have helped me in fly fishing and fly tying. and every now and then. bass pros will hold some fly fishing events at the store. Tom and Tim, that are in the fly section of the store. are two very knowledgeable guys. and have answered all my questions on the subject of fly tying and fishing. i am including a small list of start of materials that you would need. but i am warning you. you can spend a little or a lot for your new hobby or in my case my new addiction. and it can get out of control. i have a bunch of ultra light rods and a couple of bass rods. but when i go fishing i grab the fly rod or rod's. and another thing i like about fly fishing is. you don't have to mess with any bait.
items you need to start up with Vise fixed or rotary Ceramic Bobbin Bobbin Threader 3 ½ inch Straight Scissors or curved Bodkin – to apply head cement 1/32 ounce Jig Heads 1/64 ounce jig heads 1/16th ounce jig heads hooks any size you want Chenille any size Flat Waxed Nylon Red Thread or non waxed Marabou Neck Hackle Krystal Flash Head Cement foam sheets and a whole lot more stuff that's out their for fly tying.
