As a reminder, I am on the Finfish Advisory Panel for the Georgia Coastal DNR. We study and discuss various aspects of coastal Georgia fishing from trawl surveys to catch and keep ratios. Are intent is to keep our fishery healthy by monitoring fishing, natural patterns, and weather effects. If you have any concerns or questions about our fishery, size/ keep limits, SIP program, let me know and I can answer them or find out and get back with you. I can also be your voice at our meetings.

I fish several times a year around the Jekyll area and the biggest problem I see are the fillet and keep fishing mentality that is prevailing in that area. I would like to see a rule that would prevent one from filleting fish till they returned to the ramp. May already be one but I do not know. I also despise having to many laws but wish that they sometimes have some merit to them. Too many laws makes it hard on not only DNR but the fishing person as well.
