I am looking to build a hoist system to hang my kayaks in the garage. I have found some on various websites, but max I can find is 125 lbs capacity. My kayaks without gear are around 100 lbs and I don't feel comfortable with a cheaper system. Anyone have a guide design for a homemade hoist? If not, I am sure I can figure it out wandering through Home Depot.

You may want to PM 3spots. I believe he has one he made up.

I mounted a small trailer strap hoist on a wall and ran 1/4 braided rope through to pulleys that are bolted into the ceiling joists. Works really good.

Finished with most of the work, but still have to do some minor tweaks to get them to go up smooth and evenly. Overall pretty easy project.
