Anyone have any experience with Vibe yaks? Looks like they are out of ATL and deal in Feel Free yaks as well. I swapped a few emails with them yesterday in regards to the hull construction. They said the Vibes were 4 mill, one piece, rotomolded. One of my biggest worries is the stability of the hull. I don't want a hull flexing and warping like my old Ascend that I had a few years back. So does the above description of the hull sound like it is up to taking me and a load of gear for some long days fishing inshore?
I am not affiliated with the company, just honestly curious. I am trying to make sure I make the right decision as I want to buy a yak that I can get plenty of usage out of.

Sharkattack would be the one to ask about feel free yak construction.

Shot a few more emails with the guy and I think I am going to pick one up in late March. I have a 2 week work trip in the middle of March and I'm going to make some pretty good OT and travel pay. So that will fund the yak.

Well, I may be picking up a Vibe Sea Ghost next weekend (the 21st). I have made contact with a dealer and we're trying to work out the details now. I had been saving some cash to get a hitch on my car and buy a trailer, but I decided to just buy a foam block set to car-top my future yak. That boosted my kayak budget money and put me over the top. Hopefully I will be able to get in the water regularly with some of you soon and you guys can check it out.

Deal is done. Picking it up on the 21st. The dealer is near Augusta, so I am taking my 11 year old girl and making a day trip of it. We are going to pick up the yak, then go check out some of the sites and neat places around Clark Hill.
The dealer is Southern Moon Outfitters. Owner's name is Kevin. Amazing customer service so far.
I went with this one for a few reasons. I love the way it is equipped from the factory. It has a center console, 4 flush mounts, and a rudder. The front hatch is big enough to hold my fish bag. It has a 500 pound weight limit, which is great for me, because whether it was kayaking or boating, my past habit has been to pack both a fish bag and a big cooler and go all day long. This weight limit will let me pack heavy for a full day out. Also, with the 4 flush mounts and the rod holders on my crate I can keep my 3 rods, my net, and fly my flags while I am out on the water. And the price was good to boot.
See you on the water.

I haven't been able to get it out on the water yet. I really like how it is equipped and the weight capacity on it. The rear well is really roomy. I have a pretty large crate system and it fits with plenty of room to spare. In fact, I also have room in the back for a bait bucket and a small drink cooler.
The center console is really cool. The top hatch on the console is designed to accept a variety of mounts and has a molded-in ruler to measure your catch. It's pretty room inside.
It's probably going to be a few weeks before I can get it out due to the weather. Keep in touch and you can take a paddle with it.

Big shout out to Kevin at Southern Moon Outfitters in Augusta. He is a normal guy like us who is trying to get a kayak and canoe business started. Great customer service. My interactions with anyone at Vibe have been stellar. So when I bought it and hauled it home it was my first time ever car-topping a yak. I had ordered some foam block carriers to get me through this one trip and until I can figure out a more permanent solution, but they didn't come in. So I had to Macguyver a solution with an old bedding comforter. Usually I'm not good at improvising solutions like that, but I managed to get the yak home without it coming loose or damaging my car. Pretty proud of myself for that one

That' sounds pretty awesome man. How does the console work? Is it just a hole that will fit like a Scotty holder? I am looking at that or the perception.

I'll get some pics this weekend of the console. Honestly, I am not all that familiar with the different mounts because I just use the flush mounts and milk crate rig. Kevin just started naming the different mount configurations off the top of his head, and it sounded really versatile. I'll get some pics and show you what I mean.

Yeah I took it out to Skidaway last weekend. Paddled down to Pigeon Island. Didn't do much fishing, just wanted to get out and about in it. Tracking is awesome on this thing. Straight, fast, and smooth.
Probably not going to make it out this weekend.
