Well, i have moved to Savannah and am getting settled in. boxes still everywhere, but progress is being made.
I want to start a fly tying club and am willing to host it at my place, corner of Washington and Waters Avenues in Savannah. Right across the intersection from Daffin Park. I'm thinking one night a month, have a presenter who agrees to tie/teach a pattern. My main interest is saltwater, but i don't want to leave the freshwater folks out. I've tied many a trout, smallmouth, and steelhead fly, and there's a lot of overlap anyway.
Y'all let me know who's interested, and i'll throw out some dates to get us started. If y'all have other tyer friends who aren't on this board, please pass the word along.
Thanks, kevin

Wish I lived there, I would definitely enjoy it. Sounds like a great idea. I'm sure there will be some takers. I've seen enough guys on this site that fly fish to take advantage of it. Good luck!!! Be sure to post up some reports and maybe a video or two of tying. Redbeard

i need to learn how to tie salt water flies. nubby if i can learn how to tie flies. any on can do it. you tube and some fly tying sites were the biggest help for me. especially when you just target a certain species. but a little warning it is addicting. just like kayak fishing is.

The Clouser minnow is maybe the most effective all around fly ever invented, particularly in saltwater (although it was originally designed for river smallmouth), and is one of the easiest of all patterns to tie. If you have basic skills - wrapping thread, maintaining tension, tying a finishing knot, you can tie a Clouser. YouTube is great, but there's nothing like a hands on demonstration for learning to tie.
I'll put out some dates later today, if i can.

I'm down. There are a lot of bass flys that I feel carryover to salt pretty well.

I am looking forward to this. I won't be able to make the first meeting. But I will be coming if I don't have to work.

Late to the thread but I'd love to get together and tie sometime. Wanting to get back into fishing/fly fishing after a bit of a hiatus due to boring a house, house renovations, and having a baby.

I would be glad to host, but I'm not exactly in Savannah. It would be a bit of a drive for most.

I'm in Glennville. Straight down 301. Maybe you and the family could come down, jump in the pool. We could tie some flies and swap patterns.

I'll check my schedule and let you know when I have some time! I need to stop into Savannah and restock some materials for my bench first.

Sundays are good for me. Kids nap from 1230 to 330. You are welcome any time, they sleep through everything. Tie flies, throw some brats on the grill, hang around the pool.
