I'm in a bind. I'm looking at getting a couple new reels for inshore fishing trout and reds. I'm looking at getting a couple either penn spincasters, or something equivalent from shimano or Abu Garcia. Keeping my mind open but def want quality. What do you guys think?

I have used Shimano's for years and like how they perform. I have used a few other brands, but always come back to the Shimano Stradics. I here that the Shimano Sedona is also a good reel and a bit cheaper.

That seems to be a super common reel in kayak anglers. I like them that's for sure. I may start leaning in that direction

The stradic fj is my favorite reel of all time. I have a stradic CI4 and i don't think it is worth the extra money.
Next time I need a reel, without a doubt Shimano Stradic FJ!

If you don't want to put out the money on a Stradic look into the penn battle. I think it's the best quality for under a 100 bucks

I think the best inexpensive spinning reel is the Cabelas Salt Striker. I'v egot one that I've had for years and it's still just as good as new. Bought one of the boys another one a couple of years ago
