Santa just got me an early Christmas present...Registered for the Jax Classic on May 10th.
Anyone who has fished this in the past will tell you it is a GREAT event.
Not a chance I would miss it!
I look forward to another good CGKF showing this year...would it be too much to ask for the weather to cooperate this year???....doesn't matter; great event for a great cause, well run, and well worth the price of admission!
See you there! JC

The wife wanted to camp, so I reserved a site on Talbot Island. Would they let her tag along with me if shes not fishing if I can acquire another kayak for the weekend?

Thanks Trey, How do you guys fish? Do you pair up and hit up spots, or is it every man for himself? I've never fished there before and have no idea where to go.

There is some pairing up, grouping up, and individual stuff. I fish with some locals down there that I have fished the classic with for years, kind of like a reunion.

Hopefully, I will get to fish it this year. I missed it last year for the first time in five or six years. It is a great trip, for anyone thinking about it, go ahead and register and make plans. Nubby and I usually stay at Candlewood Suites. Reasonably priced and close enough to the activities and anywhere you want to fish. Looking forward to meeting new faces and getting a chance to fish with some new folks. Redbeard

I am starting to plan my trip and starting saving for it. I just have to check with work and see if I will be permitted to go.

Bayou buck, we need to camp brotha for the weekend or split a hotel in the area. I just got a map from a buddy of mine since neither of us has fished that area yet.

If I get to go, I will be happy to share information on what I know about the area and will welcome anyone wanting to fish with me. There is enough collective information in our group to help any new members catch some fish there. Redbeard

Redbeard I will take you up on that offer, I more than likely won't get to pre fish and have no experience with the area.

We are going to stay at the same hotel as last year. Hampton inn, forget the address. I can look it up. It was a good location convenient to fishing spots and the dinner...and conveniently located right next to millers ale house.
We took full advantage of the ale house in such close proximity!

I might try and crash at my friends house that lives in Jacksonville or I might try and get a room near the Captain meeting area. We'll see.

ReefDonkey and I are booked at the Hampton Inn 4415 Southside Blvd, its a bit pricey, but I get it for free with Hilton points. There is also a SpringHill Suites close by on Southside Blvd that has rooms from $79.
This is a great location close to fishing spots and the meeting hall.
Most importantly, it is located right next door to Millers Ale House!
We are heading down on Thursday. Maybe we can all get together for a frosty beverage.
Can' wait for this!

Well, looks like I will be fishing the Classic!!! Just got it cleared with the folks at work. I haven't made any plans yet, but Nubby and I usually stay at the Candlewood Suites. Very reasonably priced, clean, and convenient to the fishing and the meetings. I look forward to finally getting to meet a lot of you that I haven't had the honor of meeting face to face. Gotta talk to Nubby and make some plans, but anyone who has not fished there before is more than welcome to fish with us. Redbeard By the way, Nubby won't be alone in the "Senior" division this year!!!

Looking forward to it!!! I will shoot you a pm after I get a chance to talk with Nubby. Hopefully, we will have several more that would like to get with us. We know enough to be dangerous, but not enough to guarantee any fish!!! Redbeard

Just to let everyone know. I had an extremely hard time finding a hotel room yesterday for the Jax Classic. It's the same weekend as the TPC @ Sawgrass for you Golf people out there. I was able to find a room at the Hampton Inn off Butler Blvd & I-95, but almost all the other hotels listed for accommodations on the Jax Classic website don't have any vacancies or are filling up quickly. Also, It seems that the rates are a bit higher than what's listed on Jax Classic website I guess because of the golf tournament. Considering that I was having problems 1 1/2 months before the tournament, I'd suggest people who are going down there make accommodations now.

Just booked my room for the classic. As Ben said rooms are hard to find. I will be staying at the Best Western on Salisbury Road. Good luck.
