The day started pretty good with most of our group catching trout. Me and Kevin missed nice trout. Kevin and I both caught 22" and change reds. Couldn't get any bigger reds. Austin and Dylan fished a different area and the wind had it blown out. Dylan caught a decent trout and Austin landed a 28" red and won Junior Angler. Fyaman, jersey Joe, and laughing full fished the event too. Attachments:

Here are the tournament results. A lot of folks caught fish, some were shorties. Kevin finished 5th and I followed in 7th. Attachments:

That 25+" trout that someone caught was impressive. I wonder if it was a local trout?

All the trout caught over 20" were from Jacksonville, Fla. In fact, all that placed minus Kevin (Troutman) & Austin (windknot) fished in Jacksonville for the IFA Savannah tournament. It kinda defeats the purpose of having the tournament in Savannah. Maybe we can talk some of those guys & gals into fishing this area next year to level the playing field. Had a great time at the tournament. Congrats to Austin and Kevin for representing us local boys.

Talks about having the rules amended have been started a while back. There may be some changes in the future, after this season. Many of us have voiced our opinions to the IFA officials and they understand the dilemma.
If you consider the folks that actually fished Savannah. Kevin, me, and Austin came in the top 3, lol. One of the winners actually stated that he fishes Jacksonville because Savannah is such a hard place to fish. No kidding.

The boats have to launch from the same point, thereby limiting the area that can be fished. Do the same thing for the yak division. Make it where you have a 30 mile radius from the tournament headquarters to launch. Problem solved. Otherwise just hold all three east coast tournaments in Jacksonville and be done with it.

If they change the rules and limit radius for kayaks the IFA will lose a few regulars but will gain far more guys like me that will register because I know it will be an even playing field.

I definitely think those Jax guys are real good at these tournaments, but it also seems that they are just in it for the money. Why else would you drive so far to each events headquarters just to go back home to your honey holes then drive all the way back. I really wonder if those anglers would just quit coming if they made that fishing radius rule.

Of course they would stop coming. But, like I said before I would register at more events if I knew I didn't have to compete with Florida sized trout.

I agree, it ,makes you sick to your stomach to know you would had won if the top four had not fished south. With that being said, its not their fault, its the fault of the rule maker and the fact it has taken so long to ammend/change the rules. I dont hate on the guys for doing what they do, just for boasting and bragging about it like they accomplished something. Come to my home waters and beat me then we can talk. ) I just wanted to say thank you to all that came out and fished. We had a better turn out for local guys this year than we have had in the past. thanks alos to Nubby, and Smitty for showing up and supporting the group! Fish ON ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
