The IFA series is coming to Savannah at Hogans Marina. The boats fish August 3rd and the kayaks fishing August 4th. Check out the rules and fees at www.ifatours.com/This is an artificial only tournament that is catch/photo/release (CPR). Hopefully we can have more locals fishing this event and one of us take home 1st. It's a fun tournament without all the glitz.

You have my attention on this one. I've seen the shows on it and now to be able to participate, think I'm gonna put this one on the calendar. Thanks for the info Trey.

The format is easy, catch/photo/release your biggest redfish and trout, make it back to check in at the predetermined time and hope you did well. Most of the folks that fish this event are good people and it's a good way to make friends and fishing contacts in other locals.

I will not fish the IFA until they change the rules. There will be guys(teams) that travel up from Jax and even further south like titusville for the cpts meeting then make the drive back south. Fish the morning down in fl, catch the larger fish, then drive back up here. That isn't right.

I guess I look at like this, if those guys have the think its that important to drive back to Fla.. for the chance to win then their not really sure of their fishing abilities. Not to mention the expense of gas. I've only fished 1 kayak tournament but plenty of bass tournaments in my life.. Your always gonna have some to get as much as they can. They have to live with it. I am a rookie at all of this but always feel like it could by chance or luck be my day that day. With the quality of fishermen we have in the area I say bring um on. From troutman , 3spots, backlash and countless others bring them on.

I heard that if you aren't paid by this Wednesday, there will be a $50 late fee. Register and pay up now. Should be a good tournament.

Does the angler advantage part sell out? I'm thinking it's an error because the fields to select the membership and angler advantage are both saying sold out. Guess I'll call them tomorrow.

Just call them. It's easier than online. You can get the angler advantage at the captain's meeting on Saturday.

Ah okay thanks for the help. As much as I love the Keys, I'm dying to get back to Savannah and fish a little bit before the tournament.

I called the yesterday and let them know about the issue on the web page concerning the angler advantage being sold out. They have to contact their web service.

I spoke with Lee at the IFA and she stated that the late fee was just for the boat guys. You can still register for the Savannah kayak event online and pay the $50 then pay the $50 Angler Advantage prior to the Captain's meeting. Or you can pay it all just prior to the Captain's meeting. If this is your first IFA event, you will have to pay an additional $10 membership fee.
See you all there!

What time and where would be a good to come down there and meet all of you that are fishing in this event? I haven't met most of you guys so I thought this would be a good time to meet a few. I'm not fishing the event but i would like to watch the weigh in.

Whether you are fishing or just observing, please take plenty of photos and post up. I would love to be there, but Elvis and BBQ ribs have me still captive in Memphis. We have a job in Savannah and I had hoped to time one of my trips to coincide with the tournament. Nobody would think a thing when they saw my truck with our construction company logo on the side of it hauling a kayak in the back of it down 16!!! Been there, done that plenty of times before! It just ain't gonna happen this time. Hopefully, in about three weeks, I can kiss this baby goodbye and be home for good, then Savannah won't be so far away. Good luck to all of you fishing the tournament. You represent CGKF well!!! I hope to see photos of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners wearing CGKF shirts!!! Good Luck!!! Redbeard

I'll be fishing somewhere near Titusville Ha just kidding but some people will come close. I'll be local. Need my hometown advantage. I think a lot of people from out of town are gonna be down towards Brunswick though because of all the freshwater coming into the rivers.

I'll be fishing local. Don't really know where yet. Anybody know where the fish are biting.? I haven't been in a while.

This summer I feel like I've been finding out a lot more about where they aren't biting than finding where they are biting haha. Definitely gonna be a tough tournament.

I hear ya on finding where they aren't biting. It's been a tough year so far. I don't think this tournament will be anywhere near the difficulty as the Jax classic back in May. That had steady 25-30 mph winds with nasty rain. Hopefully it'll be nice day with not much wind.

Post by backlash on Aug 1, 2013 12:06:13 GMT -5
Oh for sure. I heard that tournament was basically a wasted trip. It looks like the wind is going to be out the west at a decent speed so hopefully that will stay true. I just want 3 nice hours of fishing on Sunday. That's all I ask. Let's show those Florida boys Savannah has some nice fish too!

I'd say that the Jax trip would've been a waste except I did get lucky and catch a 27" Red to finish in fourth place. Other than that, I'd never fish in that kind of crap again. You should try and fish it next year. We need a bigger showing of CGKF guys next year.

I'm definitely gonna try to fish some of the Florida tournament this year. Since I go to school up at UGA it's a long drive down there, but I'm willing to do it this year.
