So I just got me the yak that I wanted and now I need to get it moving. I've taken a liking to the Bending Branches Angler Ace. bendingbranches.com/paddles/kayak/fishingAny of you guys use these? Any recommendations on other brands?

I suggest going to half moon outfitters downtown. They have lots of kayak gear upstairs. Do a little research online for what size ( normally in cm) you need and they will hook you up. They have good equipment. Also bass pro has a few good ones also. That's where I got mine. It's an adjustable canter ascend. It's pretty light and I can paddle my 89lb kayak with myself and about 45lbs of gear against the current no problem.

Good idea. I've actually never been to Halfmoon. Heard good things about it though. I also heard recently that there is an REI in Atlanta! Now that would be a dangerous store to visit, lol.

The Bending Branches Angler Classic is a tough paddle! A bit heavier than the carbons, but tough against the abuse that us yak anglers on the coast put it through. They have it at BPS. The BB Ace is good too.

www.foxworxpaddle.com/kayak_paddle_page.htmlI have nothing against any particular type of paddle, but I went with the KS Forworx paddle. I'm 6'4" and wanted a longer paddle. These guys make them extra long. The only drawback I've seen in this is the ferrule they put in between the 2 half's is black and gets a bit warm in the summer. Other than that I love it.

What kind of kayak did you end up getting?

The wife and I enjoy our Onno's very much. Once you use a super lightweight paddle, it is hard to go back to a heavier one.

Check out Adventure Technology paddles too! I won one in a tournament a couple years ago and have put that thing through hell and it doesn't show a bit of abuse other than some stains from mud I left on there. The one I have is a two piece that clamps down on the other piece so you can adjust the blades at whatever angle you like. Plus you don't have to worry about a spring rusting like the paddles with the buttons you push in to attach them to one another. Also, speaking of that REI store in Atlanta, I was there for over 3 hours yesterday haha. I could have easily spent half a day in there, but my friend wasn't happy I was ignoring her for inanimate objects

Well I ended up going with the BB Angler Ace. Pricey but affordable and pretty light weight. Can't wait to use it!
