For those of you who have not attended we generally have our meet and eat at Tubby's in Thunderbolt. They have a back room that we use for general talk and some food usually with a guest speaker and some giveaways.
For a meet and fish we fish on the morning and grab some lunch close to wherever we fish. Give me some recommendations on where to fish/eat. Alley 3 on Tybee has limited parking, but AJ's is close by. Demeries Creek has a busy ramp and the Cast Iron Cafe a few miles up the road. Sunbury has a busy ramp and the Sunbury Crab Co. Lake Mayer has room and multiple restaurants in the area. Feel free to add your choices or places we can get into.
July 27th is supposed to be our next monthly outing so we can plan on that date. Let me know. Tight lines.....

Alley 3 is closed, don't know when they will reopen it. I would like some salty action though. We could launch at 19th st. lot and grill on Little Tybee. Lake Mayer may be a good choice more so for ease of launching and local eats.

Lake Mayer may be good so we can also do a re-entry seminar/ exercise.

Harris Neck has a nice ramp and usually isn't too crowded because of large nice parking area. The Old School Diner is on the road entering Harris Neck. I know if you have your meet and fish located centrally on the coast it would be easier for all members to attend. Just my two cents.

Thanks for the input bigred, I've seen the diner you're talking about, but never launched down in that area.

I've known the people that own Sunbury Crab Co my whole life. They have live bait on site also if you can launch from a dock might be able to work something out with them. McIntosh county is my usual paddling area and has a few ramps close to places to eat. Also the boat traffic tends to be less there mostly commercial crabbers and shrimpers.

Sunbury is Ehhh. I don't like it there because of the boat traffic and the Medway river honestly. To me it seems to big for a kayak. It takes a while to paddle to a smaller creek and there is not many smaller creeks around.
Harris Neck is more central than Shellman Bluff and it has creeks and the south Newport river close. I have caught fish all around that area in my boat but I haven't been in my kayak yet. I have only had my yak a month now. Whenever you guys plan the meet and fish I'll do my best to be there. Just post it up.

Well, it's good to see a unanimous vote at least! We still have time before the 27th so a meet and fish it is, we can eat later. The options brought up were Lake Mayer, 19th St Tybee or Harris Neck. Harris Neck is saltwater and mid-coast as was pointed out, and would be new territory for most of us I think. Saltwater seems to be the choice for most so tell me which of the 2 you like, local or mid coast and why and I'll pick one.

Well if there is more people in the savannah area that are going to attend this I would say hold it in the savannah area. I doubt there are many active members outside of savannah area that will attend anyway. I personally would rather fish in some rivers and creeks in the savannah because I do not have much experience there.

i am willing to go any were. what about the jones creek area? near sunbury. off to the right of I-95 just before you get to the exit there seems to be some type of marsh flat and looks like we could launch from hwy 17, been wanting to try that area for a while now.

Eh I hate this area for kayak fishing(I live in Midway). Especially early in the year. We are too far inland for my opinion right now. Later when the trout and bass start coming up inland more its easier to fish around here.

bigredobsession did pretty good down at Sunbury. So I'll throw up 2 options:
1. Sunbury
2. Demeries Creek
both access the Medway River, and have smaller creeks off them. Lets see some opinions and we'll pick one. Restaurants are Sunbury Crab Co, Sunbury and the Cast Iron Cafe right up 144 from Demeries.

That's it. It comes out into the river almost across from Sunbury with the island in between.

I think there would be enough fishing in those small creeks we wouldn't have to go out to the Medway river. When are you wanting to do this?

So, it looks like we'll be going to fish out of Demere's Creek, Richmond Hill on the 27th. Take I95 or US17 to 144 then east for about 10 miles, the ramp is on your right about 1 mile after the signs to Kilkenney Marina show on your left. Tides are low at 0722 for Sunbury which is across the river so it should be close. Due to the possible heat/thunderstorms figure on launching around 0700? Lunch at the cast iron cafe when we finish. Hope to see you there. Fla79 as far as your father in law, all are welcome. marine.geogarage.com/routesHere is a link that shows charts and you can zoom in and see creek depths and the area right outside the creek in the river.

Nice morning despite the lack of fish. Good to see Fla79 and his Father N Law on the water. Had a good time. Nice to fish new areas, even if I get skunked. Backlash caught a small flounder and the Father N Law caught a shark. Wish some of you others could have joined us. Those of us that went: 3spots Nubby Bwanajim Backlash Fla79 (and his Father N Law)
The numbers fell a few short of a "club" event. Maybe we can get our numbers up in the future.

Had a great time just being on the water. This is the first time I have been able to get on the water in about a year. Trouble with my neck and surgery the end of Jan. Can't wait to get back out again
