Yep, this is the time of the year when our female trout spawn. I encourage you to let trout go that are 18" and over, these are are egg layers. Keeping these sow trout in our waters will ensure a healthier trout population for this fall and future fishing seasons. Any trout that I catch that is in the 18" and over range is a treat for me, but I photograph that beauty (preferably a hero shot) and let her go. It's the right thing to do. Besides, the 16" and 17" trout taste better anyways.

Remember that 94% of sea trout over 18" are female so every time you release one over 18" odds are very good that you just released tens, if not millions, of trout eggs!
