Hey y'all,
I'm new to this site but have been kayaking and canoe fishing for awhile. Just wanted to get into fly fishing for reds and specs from a kayak and mainly wanted to know if anyone does that here. Also when and where to try at?
I'm running with an ultimate 14.5 native kayak and 9' 9 weight tfo fly rod. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Chris

Troutman and I were just at a fly fishing expo in Okatie, SC today. There were some good instructors and tips for fly fishing. Our resident fly fisherman for CGKF has flown home for the summer. I am just getting into it myself and still in the learning phase. We will be chasing reds in the flooded spartina grass flats within the next few months. September/October will be the best time. I haven't targeted trout yet.

Back river Tybee Island is okay for general fishing. The launch is on Alley St.

Appreciate the info. I'm going to try around ft Mcallister. Heard there is a great kayak place around there. Also there is a kayak launch near Richmond hill. Has the little kayak holder and everything on the dock. Those are my next hits for fly/regular fishing.

The Richmond Hill spot you're talking about sounds like the dock/ramp on Tivoli River? I'm about 5 minutes down the road if you want company. I've caught trout from shore in there and I know jerseyjoe has run up on a few reds (not sure of time of year). Last time I was out there was around new years and there were a few dolphin in the river that day.
