Had my Pro-Angler out this weekend. After a little trouble getting the mirage drive in (user error ) I was off to the races. I wanted to see just how fast this thing would go...and pedaling hard I thought; gee I am going FAST...but not INSANELY FAST...Then it dawned on me; I was going INTO the wind & against the tide...I was flying! I covered more area, in a shorter ammount of time, then I ever could with a paddle. I am not poo-pooing the paddle; just thrilled with the power of the PEDAL! Now I just have to hope that the pedal power, speed, and range actually ammounts to more fish!

once you get the hang of it, you will Poo Poo on the paddle. Hands free fishing can only mean more fish, because your line will stay wet much longer. I always have a line in the water (in my Hands) while moving from area to area.....when you get a bite....you have found the fish, stop fish, and then when they quit bitting, do the same over again....

Just picked up a PA14 this weekend. Hope to get it on the water to try out this week. Never been in a kayak before. Should be interesting.

Awesome! You will love it. The PA is SUPER stable.
I am still getting used to mine; manuvering in tighter areas and always concerned about hitting bottom w the mirage drive fins...but I am sure I will get used to it. Just a bit different compared to yaking in a traditional yak for 6-7 years.
Good Luck! and Enjoy!

Had the new PA14 out yesterday, 05/17/13 for a few hours. Really enjoyed it. Never been in/on a kayak before and it was fun. Should ehjoy fishing from it. Grew up in Southeast GA and really looking forward to getting back down there and hitting some of my old haunts in the Hobie. Have not been on those rivers and beaches in a long time. Maybe this summer.

I definitely have a pro-angler on my bucket list. Unfortunately, right now, I would be happy to fish out of the bucket!!! All of my fishing since February has been from solid ground. Hope you enjoy the new ride, it definitely has to be exciting fishing from one. I look forward to what Kevin spoke of, having both hands free to fish. Redbeard

However, my son and I really "got on it" Sunday to see how fast we could go, and at high tide, with very little wind, we got a 4.1 SOG! We couldn't keep this up very long but 3.8 did not seem to be too much of a problem! They are very fast boats, and that's with the original Mirage drive and not the turbo version! For long runs on average I use about 3 knots as easy math to figure the distance I might want to go, and how long it'll take me to get there!
