Flyfish1, our winter resident fly expert, has graciously offered CGKF members some fly casting instruction.  When: January 12th, 2013 @ Noon Where: Jaycee Park on Tybee Island (Located at the intersection of Campbell Rd. on Van Horne, within walking distance of the beach), no parking fee at park. Bring your own flycasting equipment for practice or just watch and listen to the instruction. Lunch not provided. Weather permitting, if you'd like to go fish afterwards around Tybee, bring your yak fishing stuff. There will be a 2:40pm low tide. FYI, you have to pay to park at launches. FYI -- I will have a couple of rods for people to try if they do not have one or want to try some other equipment at the park.

I wish I could come. Have to visit some Vet's in Dublin that day. Always up to learn some more things about fly fishing.

I would love to be there. Need to see if the trip to Fl is on or not. Have not responded to the Florida trip but I am thinking a lot about going.

Weather permitting....don't forget about this event. Should be a good time learning some tips and tricks from a good fly fisherman. If you think you may be attending, post up on this thread so we have a general idea of who may attend. So far we have around 4.
Parking at Jaycee Park is free, but if you go fishing with us you'll have to pay to park at the ramp.

Does anyone have an issue if I bring my 9yo and her fly rod? Might do her good to hear how to cast from someone other than Dad.

There will be a running event on Fort Pulaski that morning starting at 8am. Shouldn't interfere with our activities, just be careful driving past the Fort entrance.

So, how did it go? I think a couple folks got their bearings messed up and arrived at the wrong site. I'll send GPS coordinates next time.
I was able to get some fly casting practice in where me and my son fished. I think I cast back hand better than regular. Figures.

Sorry Steve I was at the wrong place. I got to the beach by 10:00 and went by Tybee Bait and Tackle. Then rose around for a little and went to Memorial Park about 10:20 Not thinking about the street names that Trey posted the intersection of.
Well maybe next time.

it went great. steve did a great job. picked up real quick on what i was doing wrong. snafu and ms carrie made it to. no problem about the mix up, it happens. it was nice to finally put some more names to faces.

LMAO, Sorry about that I was with Nubby, my daughter and Redbeard holding down the wrong park. But it was good to meet Redbeard and we had a good long fishing talk and HOW meeting.
