PFD, also known as Personal Flotation Device aka: life jacket.
The PFD is probably the most important piece of kayak fishing gear that you can have on each outing. I wear mine 98% of the time while on the water, the other 2% of the time is when I'm in 1' of water and it's 100 degrees outside.
Most tournament either require you to wear it throughout the tournament or strongly recommend it.
You never know when an incident may happen to you. Heat stroke, heat exhaustion, heart attack, stroke, getting hit by a boat, pulled in by a fish, dumped by a wave, or simply just falling in are many of the reasons why you should have your PFD on at all times.
Wearing your PFD sets a good example for others, like wearing your seat belt. We all want to return to the ramp safely so 'put it on'. ;D

This is great advice posted by 3 spots. I wear mine 99.9% of the time. The 0.1% I am giving just in case I sit in my yak without wearing it. You never know when you might need it. When the time comes you will not have time to reach for it and put it on. BE SAFE WEAR YOUR PFD.
