In hot weather, the Polar Bear 24 pk cooler can't be beat. It is easy to stow on the yak, works great for most fish that you will be keeping, and keeps ice in even the hottest weather. Nubby showed me a trick for keeping the inside cleaner. Keep some plastic umbrella bags like you see at the entrances to stores for wet umbrellas on board. When you catch a keeper, bag it, tie it off, and put it in the cooler. If you use the Polar Bear cooler as a fish bag, be sure to wash it out with a little dish washing detergent, rinse well, and turn the liner inside out to dry. This will keep it in great shape for a long time. Be sure to keep the zipper washed, as well. A little WD 40 occasionally will keep it working for a long time. If you don't, it will eventually corrode and become inoperable. Redbeard

went out today. got the inshore slam! good times!
i used my polar cooler, all went well till my buddy threw in a 10# sheep while bag was still in hatch. lol! we had to dig fish out- to get sheep out- to get bag out. lol.
so ive re-thought my idea of what kind of cooler to get......ill stick with what ive got, a polar bag. thanks for the tip. saved me some dough too!
all in all i still might have to do something to handle larger fish but for now this works.
heres my tip back to you guys to get a cooler clean (i like the unbrella bag idea). i use clorox clean up with bleach. its in a spray bottle in most every store. i spray down the stinkiest coolers, let them sit for a minute and hose it out. works great! i accidentally left my coffin full of slime from a limit of big spanish and cuda the other day, sat outside for 3 days. clean as a whistle now!

That bleach spray is what my wife uses on mine. Sounds like a good trip!
