I applied to a position on the Georgia DNR Finfish Advisory Panel to voice concern, experience, and assist in the conservation of our trout and redfish. I received a call this evening that I was accepted to the panel. I believe that this will be a great opportunity to learn more about the conservation efforts on the Georgia Coast and assist in the recognition of issues and efforts needed to sustain and grow our valued resources. I've always been a fisherman, but will be throwing in experiences and ideas through the eyes of a kayak fisherman as well. The GA CDNR has put a lot of effort into Georgia's redfish conservation over the years and I hope that this panel can assist in the continued success of our redfish growth and to address some of our speckled trout issues and plans to ensure many years of good growth. Here is a short description of the panel: www.coastalgadnr.org/node/100123The GA DNR will probably announce the panel and it's members this Friday. I couldn't wait to let you folks now. Should be an eye opening experience. I'm looking forward to it.

Wow, congratulations Trey. I hope this panel will help bridge gaps between the biologist, commercial fisherman and recreational fisherman. We ALL have a right to the resource and we ALL have the responsibility of ensuring it's survival.
Also, I think it's awesome that we have a kayak fisherman on the panel.
Way to go! Good luck!

I guess it's official now. www.coastalgadnr.org/node/100151Capt. Ray Golden (Coffee Bluff Marina) is also on the panel, representing Chatham area guides. This will be a two year term and I hope to do right by all the recreational fishermen that I'll be speaking for.
