Use this area to discuss and/ or ask questions about rods, reels, and baits (live or artificial). Have fun!

Good one!!! Here's a starter question. I plan to use my fly rod next week at Jax. Does it pay to use Pro-Cure on your flies? Which one? I have mullet, shrimp, and flounder. Redbeard

Redbeard I would, it wouldn't hurt anything. I'd start off with the shrimp and keep changing up scents until you find what works best.

Is it ok to tie a lure direct to power line or should a swivel be used?

Is it ok to tie a lure direct to power line or should a swivel be used? I will assume your talking about tying braid straight to a lure. That is fine. When fishing clear water, you may want a mono or flourcarbon leader attached. I hardly ever use swivels anymore. When I use a topwater lure for redfish, I'll tie directly to the lure with the braid. I primarily use a loop knot for attaching all my lures and hooks. To join lines, I use a double surgeon.

i used to use the surgeon knot. flourcarbon to braid but kept getting tangled. i was watching a fishing show and they showed a clear swivel, yep a clear swivel. checkout www.aquatekO.com they have different poundage in there selections. so far i have used there 10lb swivels and so far not one tangle and even pulled in a 2 lb cat on a ultra light set up.
