The Inshore Fishing Association (IFA aka: Redfish Tour) is stopping right here in Savannah, GA. very soon. The Savannah leg of the IFA Tournament Tour is scheduled for March 24th and 25th. The boats will fish on the 24th and the kayaks on the 25th. Coffee Bluff Marina will be the host of this event. coffeebluffmarina.net/www.ifakayakfishingtour.com/tournaments/2012/details/savannah_2012.htmlredfishtour.com/Even if you don't fish the event, come on out for the check-in and mingle, root for others, meet the IFA crew, and see who wins some cool prizes. CGKF will have a few folks particpating and hope to make a good showing. Come on out and support Coffee Bluff Marina as well!

The Captain's meeting is mandatory at Coffee Bluff Marina the evening before, but you can launch at any public accessible launch that you'd like. Here's the page of rules: www.ifakayakfishingtour.com/menu/rules.html

I'm new to the site and have never fished the Savannah area. I will be fishing the IFA that weekend. I'm not asking for any sweet spots but maybe a list if launches that might have some fishing areas connected with them. I'm planning a trip for this Saturday to explore. Any assistance to help offset the cost of gas in driving around the area would be greatly appreciated.
How is the area around the Marina and do they have a ramp?

They have regular floating docks, but is easy enough to launch there. There is a launch at Lazaretto Creek, Alley 3 on Tybee, Skidaway Narrows (on Diamond Causeway), under the Spence Grayson bridge on Johnny Mercer Blvd., and on President St. (aka: the Islands Expressway) near the draw bridge. Hope this helps a bit. Very similiar to fishing the Charleston area. Be careful driving through Savannah this Saturday....St. Patrick's Day = crazy drunk folks. Avoid downtown completely unless you'd like to partake in some green beer.

Thanks...I heard rumors at work today about the party in Savannah. Interesting and I do enjoy beer but not when I'm on a mission.
Thanks for the Launch suggestions.

Wow, what a windy day! I didn't fare too well, but others did. It is always fun to get to fish and participate in a tournament even when I don't perform too well or luck doesn't go my way. We almost doubled our entry list from last years event. I believe there were 32 anglers that fished. They wet their lines anywhere from Northern Florida up towards Port Royal, S.C. Some pretty nice fish were caught right here in Savannah. Thank you to Coffee Bluff Marina and the IFA for putting on a great event. Here is a list of winners: 1st place - Marty Mood 23.75" redfish 21" trout 2nd place - Elizabeth Saylor 25.25" redfish 18.25" trout 3rd place - Craig Vanbrocklin 21.875" redfish 15.75" trout 4th place - Erick Bell 28.375 redfish 5th place - Nathan Raycroft 27.875" redfish 6th place - Chris Chappell 27.75" redfish other notables: 8th place Kevin Kappel 25.75" redfish The next IFA Atlantic Region event is Charleston in early June.

Had a blast.......was an adventure for sure, the wind and the current was a factor, which made fishing tough.......only caught one fish but love being able hang out with all the guys that you only see at tournaments......Definately will be fishing Charleston, and possibly Fernindina.

Probably not a chance in the world that I would be able to make it, but when is the Fernandina tournament?
