As you know, a couple of kayakers had to be rescued from around Little Tybee lately. One was rescued rather quickly and the other after hours of searching for him. The male stated in a tv interview that although he wasn't an expert kayaker he had some decent experience. He stated that the currents took over his kayak and he was unable to control the kayak and get to land. Once he was out of the inlet he stated that he was flipped out of his kayak and had to cling from the kayak until rescued. Please always wear your PFD, consider a waterproof VHF radio, have a float plan, know your limitations/ experience, have a safety plan, and know how to right your kayak and conduct a re-entry. Kayaking is a lot more fun when your prepared and safe.
