Although some of you are still fishing and catching fish, for the most part this is the time of year to get ready for the next fishing season. Make a plan to check, repair, and clean important components that you depend on when on that fishing trip. Kayak Paddle or peddles Rudder PFD Seat Check for cracks or broken eyes in rods Clean and lube reels Check your fishing line Pliers and fish grips Terminal tackle replenishment Lure care and replenishment Rod holders Add, remove, or update gear tracs and other attachment aids Check or update anchoring devices Add, update, or maintain your electronics Replenish first aid kit Etc Have a great 2015 kayak fishing season!!

Since this year is going to be the first time I've had to fish in about 4 years the amount of preparation that I am going through is crazy. I've basically had to buy all new fishing gear, and I am sure you all understand that means more than just a rod and reel and some terminal tackle. I've been building a new milk crate, bought a new dip-net, bought some gear for my 2 kids (and need to buy more), bought new pliers, knives, and lip-grippers, etc. Every time I go to Bass Pro I could fill up a buggy.
And I haven't even bought a kayak yet :-(

Got my first fishing kayak recently - had a sea kayak on the west coast, but didn't fish out of it. Put a bare necessities fishing kit together to get me out of trouble like forceps for sharp teeth and the rare devoured bait hook, safety gear etc. Other than that I'm just going to make things for it as I figure out what I need. Guess I'll have time to do some dry runs before the fishing gets easy enough for this redfish beginner. Looking forward to some of the coffee bluff seminars this year - only so much you can learn from YouTube.
