Anyone have any experience with the KOAs in the area. There is one in Savannah and Yemassee SC. I'm looking for some type of rustic cabin. It will be just me and my kayak and desire to fish for a couple days....so amenities are not needed.....but accepted.... I'm not set on those but after several hours searching that's what I have come to. If you have any other sites in mind let me know....not against a small motel either but would like to stay under 100$/night.... My only requirement is that it's within 30 min drive of a decent kayak fishing spot and around an hour from Savannah..... North or south.....coming from Alabama and would like to keep a direct shot travel path...... the one in savannah does have cabins for rent. and a very nice lake on the property. its catch and release only. are you wanting to do fresh or salt water fishing? there are a couple of fresh water lakes/ponds that are in driving distance from the savannah koa. again welcome to the site.

Well I was going for salt water....got plenty of fresh water here. But I spoke with some guys that guide by boat and they stated the tide change was so much , kayak fishing was very difficult... Something like an 8-10 ft change? They suggested jacksonville..... I'm kinda weak on tide knowledge....not sure what I will do.... Savannah is 6 hours... Jacksonville is 10... Need to re-think.......maybe mobile alabama area....not sure....

Savannah has a good fishery, it's a beautiful area but our tides are huge. As for kayak fishing this area it's easier than the boat captains make it out to be. Tons of good areas but you will have better luck going out on the water with a couple locals to help you understand the fish and the tides. When will you be down this way? Camping here is hit or miss, most of the good camp sites don't have a very good fishery in that area. But you can drive 20 mins either direction and be in a good area for some beautiful views. I have no problem taking you fishing and showing you around when you get down here
