This probably won't excite most of you but I'm not a saltwater guy and I am just recently a kayak guy. I wanted to show off the 31" Redfish I caught today. out of my PA14 in 12 inches of water. I caught a 26" yesterday. Right before I came in today I caught an 18" slot fish to clean and we had that along with a trout from yesterday for dinner. Why am I just now learning about this kayak thing!?!

Nice looking red, glad we have another redfish addict. It's super great to see that the reds tails are turning blue again. Means warmer waters and the blue crabs are running around. Means the big feed has begun or is going to shortly

I caught every red this week on a new penny Gulp Shrimp. I think it was a smaller one like a 4".
Anyway, I took some advice from a guy on another board and started fishing with a 1/8 oz weighted 4/0 wide gap hook with the screw-in keeper in the eye.
I can throw in around Spartina and shell bars without getting hung up like jigs. Plus I think it casts a little better. The lure not me. 15 years ago I could cast and flip with both hands with just about any amateur but boy am I rusty. I suck now. But I've parked the clubs since I bought that kayak and I'm sure a lot of it will come back with practice.
Does anyone know where I can catch slot fish? My wife is from Louisiana and loves Redfish but she can't get a grasp on the slot limit. I send her a picture of these nice fish and her reply is always, are we having Redfish for dinner?
I mean, are these tailing fish on the high tide always going to be monsters? I realize you don't know about where I'm fishing but in general, where will the smaller fish schools be relative to these bruisers?
Thanks

Mid tides around structure is where I find most of my slots.

3 spots is right. I fish 1 hr before and 1hr after low tide for my slots In tidal creeks or structure.

I went out yesterday on a low tide to map out a creek I'd been studying on Google Earth. Got distracted by the fish jumping and it turned into a fishing trip of course.
I was searching for some slot Reds and caught another 32" Redfish in less than 2' of water on a mud minnow. This was in an 8' wide funnel connecting a good sized mud flat with the main creek channel near the mouth.
It is FUN but I am still looking for a pattern to find the slot reds.
I did find a relatively deep hole or depression though. I saw it on Google Earth on a low tide photo and checked it out with the Elite 4 HDI. I was going from an average depth of 3-6 feet and it dropped off to a little over 14' just about 90 minutes after dead low tide. Should be about 20' of so on high tide. I marked it with the GPS and even fished it a little while but the WIND yesterday afternoon was horrible and I needed to get going anyway.
Can anyone tell me the best time and method to fish this place? I anchored up wind (and down current) of it in about 4-5 feet of water. I am guessing maybe a bottom rig? I tried a slip cork set with a mud minnow at about 7' with no luck. Again, the water was low and coming in so I don't know when this place would be best to try.
Thanks

Work a jig on the bottom. Live bait or artificial and just work it off the bottom in whatever method of retrieve you prefer
