I'm thinking if I can't find a group to fish with for the classic I might concentrate my efforts there.

There is some really good fishing around Amelia Island. Lot of trout, reds, and flounder around the George Crady bridge and docks along Nassau Sound. I have caught one trout after another throwing Gulp and live shrimp around the bridge pilings. The world record winter flounder, 20 lbs. 9 oz. was caught in 1983 around the bridge. Also, some really good fishing out of Dee Dee Bartles ramp and around the north end, lot of bull reds in the river there. In July and August, the pogies school off the beach around the south end of the Island out in front of Amelia Island Plantation and the tarpon and shark fishing is fantastic. Some monster tarpon work the schools of pogies. You can pick up a beach driving permit and launch on the beach there. It would be worth spending a couple of trips ahead of time learning the area, like most places, it takes putting in some time to find the best places to hook up. As it gets closer to the Jax Classic, I will have a better idea of whether or not I will be able to go and if so, I will be glad to hook up with you then. Redbeard
