Saw this video on Facebook posted up by Kayak Fishing Mag.
Curious to see how it turns out. What you guys think? So far I haven't been able to find anything else on it.

72 pounds for a 13' yak! At what point does a yak have so much crap on it and it's so heavy.....that its just cheaper, easier and lighter to buy a jon boat?

www.oldtowncanoe.com/kayaks/predator_13/Looks like it was announced today! Still not much info out there on it. No YouTube reviews yet anyways. snafu- I'm a newbie with no yak as for now so forgive me but is 72lbs a lot? I saw that and thought it was pretty decent. The cudas are 74, and forget about the Hobies, those guys are pushing 100lbs. What do you fish in? How much does it weigh?

Around 70 is pretty typical I'd say. The Cuda is definitely heavier than my Ride 135, but it's not that bad. My Tarpon 120 weighs nothing and is short enough to carry by myself with the middle handle. Weight isn't as big of a deal as you would think though. As long as you aren't putting in along the side of a road very often, it's pretty easy to deal with your kayak at the ramps. The Ocean Kayak Big Game is a killer though. That thing is a barge in comparison to other kayaks that you actually paddle.

istalvey the latest trends in yak fishing is rigged out, tricked out yaks with every option imaginable. That you can stand in, jump in, bolt trolling motors too. The latest trends lean more in the direction of making a yak more like a boat. Instead of the lean, mean fishing machines they are.
I car top my yak. So weight is an issue. Can I lift 80 pounds in a bucket? Yes. Can I lift 80 pounds that is 13' long with one handle? Not really.
My OK Prowler 15 (not the Trident) is around 50 pounds.
But there are hundreds of different styles and models for that exact reason. Some people want it all, some people are minimalists.

The weight is not the thing. The things are awkward to handle. Can stain a back in a heart beat. I trailer my PA14 and back it in like my bayboat. I know I miss putting in on some good water, but there are just too many good access points out there for an old guy like me to work that hard. Fishing is suppose to be fun.

We need to take our panties off, and put on our big boy pants..... J/K with a set of wheels, the Pa is very easy to launch anywhere. Several people have grunted/made comments about moving my Pa...... Until they got their own now they have no problems. The ease of use on the water and the stability definitely makes up for the extra couple lbs

I load my ascent fs128t that weighs about 78lbs without gear by myself on top of my xterra and launch it by myself too. I made a cart out of PVC that slides into the scupper holes and roll it right into the water until its floating and the cart slides out from underneath.
