Just curious, has the CGKF forum died? Has FaceBook taken it's place? Maybe I'm just an old fart, not catching on to changes, but although I do not post here as much as I once did because I do not live near the coast and cannot fish there or participate in any of the activities there, it seems to me that a once active forum has just up and died. FaceBook may be the way of communication now, but I am active on a couple other forums that have no problem with keeping active posters. I started noticing the decline in activity a while back and now, it is just plain dead. What would it take to revitalize the forum? Or is it time to throw a flower on it and bury it? Redbeard

Yep, this forum is dead, I asked for a little help and no one bothered to attempt to answer, my post was moved around to a thread that had nothing to do with my post and the guy who moved it didn't bother to let me know. He went to the trouble to move it but couldn't bother to answer it.

He went to the trouble to move it but couldn't bother to answer it. First off you originally posted your thread in the Fishing Reports section. Secondly the forum sends an IM message or emails you when a post is moved. Third, you can search the forum and find all the answers you want. There is a ton of good information within. The same question you asked has been asked and answered many times before.

I know I haven't posted anything in a while mostly because I haven't been fishing due to my multiple children and all the other stuff but this forum is great and very informative. When I got into kayak fishing 5 years ago, this forum was the best source of getting informed on kayak fishing and how/what to do to get set up. Unfortunately, I believe Facebook has taken it's toll on the forums participation. Don't get discouraged just because someone doesn't answer right away. Fishing season is getting underway and I believe more participation will occur at least on my end. We appreciate all that you do 3spots!

Redbeard Sadly, even the facebook page is slowly dying. Only a handful of people post and usually when someone asks for help, they don't get answers.

Just curious, has the CGKF forum died? Redbeard Yes, Yes it has. When the admins and mods aren't even checking in, then it is dead. I'm new here and joined on a whim thinking maybe the board could make a comeback. I had to wait about a week just to get approval for my membership. The people running the board have to be active and care about it for it to have a chance. There are lots of local anglers out there and kayak sales are still going strong. There is no reason a next generation can't step in and keep this thing going. All that is needed is a few interested folks to keep things current and engaged. It can be done, who's with me? One suggestion would be to give the site a makeover. Consolidate the categories and options until the community grows again. Obviously keep all the old posts and information archived and accessible. The site is a wealth of information as it is, but would be nice to see current topics and discussion. I've seen it work on other boards where over time too many new sub forums end up spreading everyone and everything out and it begins to die. just my 2cents

You're absolutely right, but it also needs community participation. Once forum participation died off then the admin. participation died off. I agree that it needs to be revitalized and revamped for the newer yak anglers that are coming into the sport.
You or anyone else that is interested in ramping up a comeback feel free to pm me or email me at treyleggett3@gmail.com and I'll get you plugged in.

I'm not sure what you mean by "plugged in" but I'm happy to do my part. I'm not an I.T guy qualified to "revamp" the site, but would love to see an active local board where trip reports and experiences can be shared.

How about a coastal tournament? We are planning a coastal inshore tournament for 2017. There will be a cash tournament in October for bull reds on Jekyll Island.

The inshore tournament is on the back burner. We will have a bull red tournament on Jekyll Island in October (weather dependent).

Trey, I haven't checked in for a while, thought that the forum was pretty well a done deal. If there is anything that I can do to help re-vitalize it, let me know. I will start back posting, even if most of what I post is BS, especially living so far away from the coast!!! Sure would like to see new interest in the forum, it is a great way for kayak fishing folks to keep in touch and learn new things. Redbeard
